Awanacancha & the visit to an Andean community is a full immersion into the Sacred Valley of the Incas right after picking you up from your hotel in Cusco city you are immediately driven to the Sacred valley of the Incas, on the way you will be able to behold the most beautiful part of the Sacred Valley, follow a succession of picturesque Andean towns, agricultural terraces and few archaeological sites, also you may have the chance to spot the world’s most famous White corn cultivated to export. The mild climate, the varied and dramatic scenery of snow capped mountains, flowering meadows, lush green Rolling hills and spectacular flora, makes the valley a prime adventure destination in South america. On our way to the Sacred Valley stop to learn the ancient weaving techniques used to créate Andean clothing at Awanacancha, this is a breeding center for south America camelids like llamas and alpacas, on this tour will have the chance to get up close with the llamas, and alpacas, as well as rare vicuñas who live almost exclusively in the wild and produce some of the most expensive wool on earth.
Continue through the Sacred Valley for an immersion into the heart of the Andean culture you will visit the charming Amaru community and its wonderful and amazing people. Straight from the hands of local craftspeople, you learn about textiles and the weaving process. The vivid colors of the Amaru villager’s clothing are derived from natural dyes made from plants and other organic elements with which they decorate wool. On this tour you will learn about cochineal red and the secret properties of some other medicinal plants in the área. Enjoy Lunch at the community. After lunch, visit the nearby town of Pisac and its market, originally a place where people from remote communities used to barter their products. Pisac has evolved into one of South America’s most famous souvenir markets. Make sure to sample empanadas baked in traditional clay ovens, and behold or try buying the handmade artwork. At the end we will return back to Cusco city.
