PERU ITINERARY 8 DAYS - LIMA - AMAZON - CUSCO - VALLE SAGRADO & MACHU PICCHU

This 8 day itinerary describes the activities per day in each place during our travelers’ stay in Peru. Bigfoot Machu Picchu can arrange this according to your budget and preference. We can book hotels from 3 to 5 stars, book the most convenient domestic flights, tour guides, train tickets, and all entrance fees for each archaeological site. We can also organize meals such as lunches and dinners during your activities or stay in our country. During these 8 days in Peru Bigfoot Machu Picchu will take care of your travel program. Day 1 – Arrival in Lima, Peru. Half day private tour in Lima

Welcome to Peru! Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your comfortable hotel to relax.

After settling into your hotel, enjoy a private city tour of Lima, highlights include a visit to the historic center, the Larco Archaeological Museum and Casa Aliaga, the longest continuously owned colonial house in the Americas.

Day 2 – Lima to Puerto Maldonado

In the morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado, the Amazon jungle.

Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, we will pick you up and transfer you by covered canoe to your jungle lodge. During the trip. During the journey keep your eyes open to observe the abundant wildlife that lives on the shores. Upon arrival you will have time to settle in before embarking on a night excursion.

Day 3 – Lake hike and Canopy tour

Your first morning in the Amazon you will navigate the shores of a natural lake, in search of black caimans, otters or river otters and countless species of birds and monkeys.

In the afternoon you will ascend to the canopy via an observation tower, from where you will experience the life of macaws, parrots and other jungle birds.

Day 4 – Puerto Maldonado to Cuzco

Traveling from the jungle to Cusco you will have gone from sea level to 11,500 feet. The first day will be free to relax and acclimatize to the altitude of Cusco. If you feel up to it, the city center is pedestrian-friendly and you can do some great walking.

Depending on preferences and price level, we will be happy to recommend or book the best dining options in town.

Day 5 – Full Day Cusco City Tour

During the day we will visit most of Cusco, the capital of the Inca Empire, you will visit the San Pedro market, the 4 nearby ruins, Inca complexes with impressive stonework; Koricancha, one of the most important Inca temples (the walls were once covered with gold) and the Cusco Cathedral where you will learn about the Cusco School of Art.

Day 6 – Private Sacred Valley Excursion

Your tour of the Sacred Valley will include the Alpaca farm, the weaving market of Chincheros, the ancient agricultural terraces of Moray, the salt mines of Maras and the ruins and village of Ollantaytambo. You will also see how guinea pigs are raised in the area.

Leaving Ollantaytambo, enjoy a scenic train ride through the Sacred Valley to the town of Machu Picchu, where you will stay at your hotel in Aguas Calientes.

Day 7 – Machu Picchu Private Tour

Discover the secrets of Machu Picchu during a guided tour of this Inca citadel. You will visit the most important parts of the ruins to learn how and why they were built. After the tour, you will have time to continue exploring for a short time.

Leaving Machu Picchu Pueblo, enjoy a scenic train ride to Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival at the train station, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Cusco.

Day 8 – Departure from Cusco

You will be picked up at your hotel and taken to the Cusco airport for your flight to Lima.
