Choquequirao Trek 4 days Itinerary
Day 1: Cachora – Coca Masana – Rosalina Beach
We will start the first day of our trip early, picking you up at your hotel around 05:00 am. Then, we will embark on a bus ride of approximately 4 hours to Cachora. During the trip, you will be able to contemplate the majestic snow-capped white mountains of Salkantay and Veronica, considered the Sacred Gods of the Incas. Upon arrival at Capulliyuc, after about 4 and a half hours, we will meet our muleteers and our experienced cook, who will be in charge of preparing a delicious meal to start our hike. We will hike for two hours to Chikiska, descending the eastern slopes of the Andes to finally reach Coca Masana (2,330 masl). As we advance, we will notice an increase in temperature and changes in the flora and fauna. Our journey will end at Playa Rosalina, where our team will set up the tents for the night in Santa Rosa.
Day 2: Rosalina Beach – Choquequirao
Our arriero will wake us up early, at 5:00 am, with coca tea delivered to your tent. We will then quickly pack up, enjoy a light breakfast and begin the hike to Maranpata, which will take approximately 2 hours. From there, we will continue for about 2 more hours until we reach Choquequirao, where our talented cook will welcome us with a delicious lunch. After enjoying lunch, we will explore the archaeological site of Choquequirao, immersing ourselves in the grandeur of the Inca civilization. Later, we will return to Raqaypata, where we will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 3: Choquequirao – Santa Rosa – Chiquiska
We will start the day early, at 5:00 am, with coca tea delivered to your tent. After a quick breakfast, we will quickly pack up and start the hike to Maranpata, where the vegetation will become more lush and the climate warmer. We will continue hiking until we reach Playa Rosalina, where we will enjoy lunch and then continue to Chiquiska, where we will camp.
Day 4: Chiquiska – Cachora – Cusco
On this last day, we will get up early to avoid the intense heat, as from 9 am it becomes quite strong. After breakfast, we will pack quickly and begin the hike to the highest point of the Choquequirao trail, which will take us approximately 4 hours of ascent. We will arrive at the Capuliyoq viewpoint, where we will enjoy our last lunch with the AB Expeditions family. Then, our private transportation will be waiting for us to take us back to Cusco, with estimated arrival at 5:00 or 6:00 pm.
