We’ll pick you up directly from your hotel in Cusco to begin the journey toward Humantay Lake. As we leave the city behind, you’ll enjoy a peaceful drive through the Andes, surrounded by valleys and towering mountains.

The drive takes you through beautiful Andean landscapes, small local villages, and wide open valleys. Soraypampa is the starting point of our hike and is also known as the first campsite of the famous Salkantay Trek.

Once we arrive, we’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast to fuel up for the adventure ahead. It’s a great moment to relax, take photos, and prepare for the hike.

From Soraypampa, we begin the hike to the lake. The first part of the trail is gentle and easy, allowing you to warm up. After that, the path becomes more challenging as we continue uphill toward our destination. Along the way, you’ll be surrounded by impressive mountain views and snow-covered peaks that make every step worth it.

When you reach Humantay Lake, you’ll understand why it’s one of the most beautiful spots in the Andes. The bright turquoise water sits right below a massive glacier, creating an unforgettable natural scene. You’ll have time to take photos, enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, offer a small tribute to the Apus (Andean mountain spirits), or simply sit and admire the view.

After spending time at the lake, we hike back down to Soraypampa. The descent is easier and gives you another chance to enjoy the scenery from a different perspective.

Once back at the starting point, we’ll enjoy a well-deserved lunch before heading back to Cusco. You’ll return with amazing memories and incredible photos of one of the most stunning natural landscapes in Peru.

Plan with confidence
Before booking your adventure, please take a moment to review the following important information.
Due to the high altitude, temperatures can be very cold—sometimes close to freezing—especially in the early morning. Dress warmly and carry only essential items to make the hike more comfortable.
In Cusco’s Plaza de Armas, you may find very low-priced tours. However, cheaper options often mean large groups of 25–35 people with only one guide.
We focus on quality over quantity, operating with small groups (minimum 2 – maximum 8 travelers) to provide better attention, safety, and overall experience.
Take It SlowWalk at a steady pace. Altitude affects everyone differently.
Stay HydratedDrink water consistently throughout the hike.
Listen to Your BodyRest when needed. If you feel dizzy or unwell, stop and inform your guide.
Humantay Lake has two main seasons:
Dry Season (May–October)Mostly sunny days with clear skies, but cold mornings and evenings.
Rainy Season (November–April)More frequent rain, cloudy skies, and higher humidity.
Weather in the Andes is unpredictable and can change quickly. Dressing in layers is always the best option.
Humantay Lake is a protected natural area with a fragile ecosystem.
Responsible travel helps preserve this incredible place for future generations.
